Rangers cash

We revealed yesterday that thousands of fans owed millions from Rangers’ liquidation are set to lose out through a legal loophole. Liquidators have confirmed fans who bought bonds are to lose out. Our readers reacted online:

“When is this situation going to end? Needs to be brought to a close ASAP”. Blair Johnston, Facebook

“I would have thought that

Rangers would have a list of bond holders, which could have been made available to the firms involved in administering the implosion, a legal requirement I assume?”

John Graham, heraldscotland.com

“A liquidator is not just responsible for the creditors but also for a forensic examination of what went wrong. The fact that they could do that and increase the value of the creditor’s pot should be commended.

“As for the bond holders, can any bond holder say they were unaware of this process? I doubt it. Did they know they would have to make a claim to get any money back? Undoubtedly they did.”

Cherry under fire

Yesterday, it was revealed SNP MP Joanna Cherry has been accused of putting her party into disrepute in a series of damning complaints to the party’s headquarters. Concerns were raised about her activity on social media and her support of a suspended MP. Our readers had their say online:

“I think the word sensible should replace regressive. With Brexit and Johnson in power for at least five years, every ‘progressive’ who wants independence already supports SNP or Greens.

“Other progressives just don’t want independence ever, in any circumstances – not even these. It’s ‘regressives’ – or maybe even deplorables, who know the progressive mind that you need to reach out to to get independence over the line and that won’t be done by silly doubling down on progressive self indulgence.”

A B Dickson, heraldscotland.com

“She will be the next leader of the SNP. Within a year in my opinion. And she will make a far better job of it than Ms Sturgeon.”

Gordon Robson, heraldscotland.com

“Comes across as an authoritarian school teacher, cannot wait to see the back of her.”

Ian Mackay, heraldscotland.com

“Have to say I support the SNP despite Cherry’s involvement. On a previous occasion when I criticised her behaviour I was shouted down. Yet the problems just keep coming.”

Cinema adverts

The Westminster Government is to launch a cinema ad campaign to “boost support for the Union”. The campaign would include cinema adverts, as well as billboards, radio, print adverts and social media posts. Our readers shared their opinions online:

“The majority of Scots voters (55.3%) expect our vote and our Union to be respected and protected.”

Ken Spiers, heraldscotland.com

“I remember when they played

God Save the Queen in the cinema. You couldn’t get out quick enough.”

Frederick Mills, heraldscotland.com

“Cinema the place where many people go to escape the real world for a few hours – not sure this will go down well.”

George Mcdonald, heraldscotland.com

“Basically money from Scottish taxpayers being used to campaign against the wishes of the largest group (perhaps now a majority) of Scottish taxpayers.”

Thomas Robinson, heraldscotland.com

“The only thing to happen for sure is that fewer Scots will be inclined to go to the cinema in future. I certainly wouldn’t pay to be subject to a Tory brainwashing session.”
