Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast

Channel 4, 8pm

Veganuary was all the rage last month, and for those who haven’t lapsed, this week’s show should be right up your street. Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty will be rustling up their first all–vegan menu, and attempt to prove that vegan food can be so delicious that you won’t even miss the meat. Of course it would help if they had a celebrity vegan to help sell the week’s theme. Lucky for them, globe-trotting funnyman Romesh Ranganathan is in town. He admits he misses a good lasagne, so Jamie decides to reunite him with his favourite dish.

Our Coast

BBC2, 8.30pm

Adrian Chiles and Mehreen Baig explore Anglesey, the largest island in the Irish Sea. Mehreen recalls the story of the Menai Strait’s magnificent bridges, while Adrian dons a wet suit to meet local paddleboarding legend Sian Sykes and see how she’s playing a key role in helping rid the island of waste plastic. Plus, comedian Tudur Owen fulfils a boyhood dream by joining the Holyhead truckers at their brand new truck stop, and Lucy Martin explores the shipwreck that changed the way weather is forecast.

Grantchester

STV, 9pm

When a woman is found dead laid out in the shape of a crucifix on Jesus Green, Will and Geordie are led to a nearby convent where they meet steely Sister Grace, who rules over her flock with an iron fist. Even more sinister is the picture that starts to emerge as they match the nuns to a series of unsolved missing persons cases from the previous five years. Meanwhile, when Leonard’s father, Russell, arrives in Grantchester, it’s clear there’s no love lost between parent and son. Last in the series.

King Gary

BBC1, 9.30pm

The family heads to the coast for a holiday, with Gary keen to enjoy some quality time with Terri. However, she is obsessed with making holiday pals and befriends a French woman whose less-than-friendly husband has nothing in common with Gary – who finds himself relegated to looking after the kids while everyone else has fun. Big Gary is excited about getting a pasty from a shop he visited years ago, but can’t quite remember its location, while Denise’s fear of seagulls prevents her going down to the sea front to help. Last in the series.

Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland

BBC2, 10pm

The comedian mingles among the crowds of the Edinburgh Fringe before heading to a bar where he meets author Val Mcdermid, learning her secret to creating realistic characters and dialogue. Travelling north, Frankie stays the night in a hotel linked to Dracula, prompting him to offer his own theory on what inspired Bram Stoker to create the famous vampire. Then, at Grampian Prison, he joins inmates learning about the Scots language. Finally, he performs his stand-up show in Aberdeen, alongside sign language expert Catherine King.
