Culinary craze roars into rural Perthshire

- The Herald Business Diary

Lamb Rover: As purveyors of fine food and drink, our interest has been piqued by what is described as the “latest culinary craze” – a converted 1962 Land Rover in which you can enjoy a menu showcasing the best of Scotland’s larder, served with a backdrop of rural Perthshire.

Teaming up with Quality Meat Scotland and Scotch Lamb for this enterprising pop-up experience, Comrie-based caterer Bonnie Mountain, run by Bonnie Colman and her partner, James Robb, has found a spot on a hill Glen Artney farm, part of the Drummond Estate.

A set menu features local suppliers from a 10-mile radius and tells a story of sustainable sourcing and natural production methods. The Land Rover – or “Lamb Rover” – has been kitted with accessories and interiors from Be Coorie, a new shop in Comrie showcasing items from local artisans.

Meat Free: Word reaches us the great and good of Scottish public life who gathered to hear a speech by Sir David Attenborough at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh were served a meal based on exclusively-vegetarian dishes. Rumours that the kebab shops of the Scottish capital were stowed out after the event could not be verified.
