The Yorkshire Steam Railway: All Aboard

Channel 5, 8pm

New series. The return of the behind-the-scenes look at the North York Moors Railway. Piglet’s been promoted, but seems to spend more time in his overalls than behind his desk as he grapples with an old American warhorse, the S160 Omaha. Elsewhere on the railway, lovable ticket inspector Bert Blower has a new trainee, and “king of the carriages” Kieran awaits a Flying Scotsman carriage returning to the railway after being vandalised two years earlier.

Our Coast

BBC2, 8.30pm

Adrian Chiles and Mehreen Baig explore the Co Down coastline between Belfast and Strangford Lough, along the Ards Peninsula. In Belfast, Adrian road-tests the largest hydraulic crane in the world and helps park a 100-metre-long Dutch cargo ship. Mehreen goes kayaking on Strangford Lough to see how the currents of the UK’S largest sea inlet is placing the area at the forefront of renewable energy research. Plus, Helen Skelton tests the waters of the North Channel, one of the most dangerous swims in the world, and local comedian Shane Todd visits a long-established bespoke racing-car factory.

Gogglebox

Channel 4, 9pm

The armchair critics are back – and just in time. After all, if any show seemed designed for the Goggleboxers to give their views on, it’s ITV’S The Masked Singer, and hopefully Saturday night’s final just sneaked in under the wire to make it in tonight’s round–up. In fact, it could be argued that Gogglebox serves a dual purpose, not just letting viewers find out what the regulars think of the week’s TV, but also rounding up the best and worst small-screen offering, letting us know what we should catch up on and what we should be thankful we missed. But which shows will have caught their eyes over the past seven days?
