A significant chunk of the proceeds of the sale of Mackintosh design plans is to go towards the cost of rebuilding the Glasgow School of Art. One of the highlights of the Bonhams 16th annual Scottish Sale is a set of designs drawn up by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for Auchinibert House, in Killearn, which is hoped to fetch £15,000£20,000. CRM was commissioned by Francis J Shand, manager of the Nobel Explosives Co of Glasgow, to design his home in the style of a Cotswolds manor house.

Experts at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum are close to discovering the identity of some of the most famous children painted in Scottish art history. One of the exhibits of the Glasgow Boys exhibition, which opens at the gallery this weekend, is George Henry’s Playmates, which depicts two young girls, and was painted in Berwickshire, where the Boys often went to paint, and the two models for the painting are also believed to be in other Glasgow Boys paintings.
