Recalled masks

We exclusively revealed yesterday that thousands of masks have had to be destroyed by Scottish health boards after they were found to be disintegrating and a health hazard.

“If trading standards caught shops or suppliers putting more recent ‘best before’ dates on goods, they’d be prosecuted and fined. Is there some reason why standards are so slack for personal protective equipment, clearly made of rottable material?”

Peter Piper, heraldscotland.com

“SNP are so tight to not have bought new masks for doctors but ones that are 10 years old and why weren’t they binned straight away? They should be named and shamed and then sacked.”

Betty Mccormick, heraldscotland.com

“You are either responsible for the NHS in Scotland or you are not. Supplies come from all over the world and it’s your responsibility to ensure that all supplies meet your specifications regardless of the source.”

Ian Mcnair, heraldscotland.com

“This one should be quite easy to find out who’s to blame? When did the masks arrive in Scotland, and did anyone bother to check the expiry date on them before distributing them to hospitals etc?”

James Devlin, heraldscotland.com

“Sturgeon has NHS devolved power, what’s she doing to try and stamp out this virus and protect us permanently? All I see is Boris and the Tories going hell for leather to protect us. But all Sturgeon does is appear on TV every day for her independence party political broadcast...”

Call centre outbreak

John Swinney has indicated fines to the owners of a call centre subject to a Covid-19 outbreak “will be explored”.

“The thought of this individual anywhere near government is just hideous. The whole lot of them agitators with no policy of substance or vision for this country other than whining.”

Rory Mcbride, heraldscotland.com

“People are becoming a lot more than ‘slightly’ more relaxed. A lot are behaving as though social distancing is last year’s fashion and as though people who want to be given six feet of distance are as quaint as people in 70s flares.”

Paul Brownsey, heraldscotland.com

“When are they going to investigate Sturgeon’s carelessness that resulted in hundreds of painful, lonely and untimely deaths of elderly Scots in care homes?

“Sturgeon should be at the top of the guilty list. No doubt she will have her excuses ready.

“Excuses are the tools of the incompetent.”

Support for new party

Former SNP MSP John Wilson has added his support to new pro-independence group, Alliance for Independence (AFI), hoping to win votes at next year’s Holyrood election

“Now we have an opportunity to vote for the SNP to govern the country and for a large block of aligned independence supporting MSPS.

“Both parties there with a mandate for independence.

“The Unionist parties and their allies in the MSM are going berserk to try to stop this being discussed and gaining traction. Why?

“They realise that both Labour and Tory representation at Holyrood will be reduced, as they get most of their politicians from the same list system.”

Frank Anderson, heraldscotland.com

“I am speculating on the impact this would have on the Scottish Greens?

“I don’t imagine wee Pat Harvie would be too pleased about it. It could possibly wipe them out entirely as a feature of

Holyrood.”
