Football boss Mcveigh ‘threatens’ Batman star

-

SCOTS football manager John Mcveigh has revealed he threatened to knock out Michael Keaton after the Hollywood star gave him a kiss.

The former Raith Rovers and Partick Thistle manager was shocked when the Batman actor greeted him with a peck on the cheek while they were filming football movie A Shot At Glory.

The pair were appearing together in the 2000 film about a struggling team trying to reach the Scottish

Cup Final, which also starred Robert Duvall and Ally Mccoist.

However, Mcveigh did not take kindly to Keaton’s greeting and warned him he would get punched if he did it again.

The 63-year-old, known for his fiery temper on the touchline, told how he was introducing former footballer Owen Coyle’s wife to the actor in Glasgow when the incident happened. He said: “We were filming a scene at Pollokshields Burgh Hall and Owen’s wife Kerry had come along to see the filming and she had her pal Anne with her.

“Michael Keaton was there and I went over and introduced Kerry and Anne to Michael Keaton.

“He gave them a peck on the cheek and he gave me a peck on the cheek. I said to him ‘If you ever pull a stunt like that again, I’ll knock you out’.

“Michael Corrente, the director, was there and he said to me ‘John, they do that all the time in Hollywood’.

“I said ‘He’s not f ****** in Hollywood, he’s in Glasgow. He does that again and I’ll knock him out’.

“I went home and told my family about it and their response was ‘I can’t believe you said that to Batman’.”

Mcveigh was the manager of Partick

Thistle when he was approached by the film’s writer Denis O’neill.
