Cuts to CAB support

Closure-threatened Citizens Advice Bureaux have not been offered any money to keep support services going in some of Scotland’s most deprived areas.

“Why would people need somewhere to turn to for competent advice when we have Nicola Sturgeon telling us how to live our lives?

“The closure of these offices is another disaster created by SNP oversight.”

William Jeffrey, heraldscotland.com

“What is Glasgow City Council offering as an alternative to the loss of these services provided to the people of Glasgow one wonders?” Andrew Mcmillan, heraldscotland.com

“This is not just a Glasgow issue. Each office is usually an independent charity, though affiliated with CA Central.

“The local CA charities largely depend on local authority funding. Cash-strapped local authorities started cutting such funding several years ago.

“CA faces a Uk-wide crisis.”

Ron Delnevo, heraldscotland.com

“Quite simply Scotland hasn’t the money to fund anything.”

Bill Duthie, Facebook

“The money should come from the taxpayer, Forbes hasn’t yet explained why she said Scotland was only getting £22 million from the last round of consequential payments when the over payment to all three devolved administrations was over £4 billion!”

Indy ‘not imminent’

A second independence referendum is not imminent, SNP ministers have told a court.

“Wow, SNP ministers and Tory ministers combine forces to block court action potentially allowing Holyrood to bypass the need for Westminster permission on a second indyref.”

Tom Oaks, heraldscotland.com

“I’m genuinely puzzled by this. If Keatings wants to take this to court, then that is his right, and the worst that can happen is that he loses his dosh.

“Seriously, why is the Snp-run Scottish Government opposing this? Are they scared of actually achieving independence, preferring to talk about it rather than actually getting it?”

Michael Mcgeachy, heraldscotland.com

“The SNP are worried that the courts rule that a Section 30 is required and that we Scots are not sovereign and effectively democratic prisoners.

“The court case is a risk but we need to know. Also, who leaked the confidential court documents to the Times and why?”

Bernard Kilwinning, heraldscotland.com

“I thought I read recently that the Government in Holyrood were ‘neutral’ on this issue. I found this amazing enough. Now it seems they are less than neutral, but not in the way that I would have thought a government who are formed by a party who claim to seek independence, would be.”

Hugh Slaven, heraldscotland.com

“So, no alternative GERS and no support for a court ruling. Seems that going indy really is all about shouting and marching for ‘freedumb’. Good to know.”

Rory Mcbride, heraldscotland.com

Masks on planes

Police were called to Glasgow International Airport after a passenger refused to wear a mask onboard a flight from London.

“What is wrong with these people? They know the rules, they know the reason for having these rules and by boarding the aircraft they agreed to follow the rules. This disruptive behaviour on an aircraft is 100% unacceptable.”

Alastair Campbell, heraldscotland.com

“Well done the easyjet staff – it’s what the TUI captain should have done at Zante!”
