MP’S work . . . it’s like a walk in the park
A GLASGOW politician is set to meet his constituents in a city park.
David Linden, MP for Glasgow East, said he will be setting up a gazebo in Tollcross Park and holding surgeries there.
The unconventional move has been taken as his regular surgeries have been postponed due to regulations brought in because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The SNP politician, 30, said: “I’ve been keen to find a way for people to see me if they need help and advice, and so I am launching ‘MP in the Park’. I’ll be under a very large gazebo, which will allow for proper social distancing to take place.
“The gazebo will be set up towards the Muiryfauld Drive side of the park and will be visible and easy to spot.
“I need to operate an appointment system on the day to ensure that people are not congregating in one area, so please contact me to book a slot.
“This will ensure that you get to see me and do not need to wait.”
Mr Linden has served as an MP for Glasgow East since 2017.
He has already held surgeries at train stations where he urged commuters to approach him with issues.
Mr Linden had previously put himself in the shoes of constituents by trying out their jobs for the day.
He pulled pints at the Tavern Bar in Tollcross, put himself on the frontline with firefighters at Easterhouse and helped traffic police catch speeding drivers near schools.
The MP will be in Tollcross Park tomorrow between 11.30am and 1pm.
