Man jailed for six years for rape bid after woman refused to have sex

-

A MAN who tried to rape a 20-year-old woman and then “went mental” and attacked her when she said no has been jailed for six years.

At the High Court in Glasgow, Connor Ferguson, 23, admitted assaulting the woman to the danger of her life and with intent to rape her at his home in Kintyre Place, Falkirk, on January 26.

The father-of-one was originally charged with attempted murder but his plea to the reduced charge was accepted by the Crown.

Judge Lady Stacey ordered Ferguson, who appeared by a video link from prison, to be monitored in the community for three years after his release from jail and placed him on the sex offenders’ register.

Prosecutor Bill Mcvicar said: “The complainer had a total of 34 injuries all over her body. These injuries were mainly to her head, neck, upper limbs and torso.

“A doctor, who examined her, was of the opinion these injuries were predominantly as a result of blunt force trauma or pressure applied and were as a result of a prolonged physical assault.”

The court heard Ferguson and the woman had been drinking and playing on an X-box. An argument developed and he demanded sex. The woman kept saying: “I want you to stop.”

However, Ferguson told her: “Even if you say no, I’d still go and do it.”

She managed to phone a friend who came at the flat and both tried to leave.

Ferguson dragged her by her hair and banged her head off the sink in the bathroom. As she again tried to leave with her friend, Ferguson pinned her to the ground and kicked her on the body.
