Punk/new Wave Years with Annie Nightingal­e

BBC4, 9pm

The veteran radio and Old Grey Whistle Test presenter recalls a radical era in music, which dominated the pop landscape during the late 1970s. Back then, punk was hard to find on mainstream television and Annie sought to build a platform for young people to have their say. Here, Annie opens up the archive to select some of the finest and most intriguing moments from this era. Covering punk, post-punk and new wave, she explores a movement in music that became the soundtrack to a generation referencin­g clips featuring the Damned, the Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Gang of Four, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Tubeway Army, Ian Dury and the Blockheads, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Soft Cell, the Selecter, Joy Division and the Au Pairs.

Later – with Jools Holland BBC2, 10pm

She’s been a West End actress, a DJ and a solo artist, but for many people Melanie C will always be Sporty from the Spice Girls. Tonight though, she’s joining Jools Holland for the last episode in the series, as she discusses her musical journey and picks out some clips from the Later archives. The presenter also welcomes Mica Paris, who is currently starring in Eastenders, but will now remind us why she shot to fame because of her voice as she performs Take My Hand Oh Precious Lord.

Joe Biden is getting ready to move into the White House. However, as anyone who remembers the 2000 US election will know, it’s not always that straightfo­rward. But regardless of whether the ballots are still being counted or not, Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker should have plenty to talk about.

Relative newcomer Emma Corrin made headlines when it was announced that she had landed the coveted role of Princess Diana in the fourth series of the Netflix drama The Crown. But did finding herself in the media spotlight help with the role of Diana, who was also thrown in at the deep end? We could find out tonight as Emma and her on-screen husband, Josh O’connor, join Graham to talk about playing the royal couple. British boxing champion-turnedStri­ctly contestant Nicola Adams also drops in, and Kylie Minogue has a chat and performs her new single.
