Scots-led charity single is set to make waves across the world with all-star cast
SCOTS singer Fiona Kennedy is fronting a new all-star choir which has released a charity single that brings world-renowned performers together online.
She is accompanied by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the single features hundreds of individual singers and choirs from 20 different countries.
Contributors include the famous baritone Sir Willard White, an 82-year-old services veteran, an
NHS doctor and hundreds across the world who have lent their voices to Stronger for the Storm.
ising4peace is a Scottish-led global initiative to bring the world together in music and was created by University of Aberdeen lecturer Neil Mclennan as a new form of commemoration.
Funds raised will be given to the British Red Cross, The Royal Commonwealth Exservices League, VSA and the University of
Aberdeen’s Development Trust. Ms Kennedy said: “My hope is that this beautiful song will bring many people from all over the world together with a common purpose during these continuing challenging times.
“As a singer it has been wonderful to be involved in a musical collaboration of this kind right from the very beginning.
“We all know the world is in turmoil just now and charities are really suffering with the postponing and cancelling of fundraising events. This is one way we can all get behind these wonderful organisations by taking part, regardless of musical ability.”
Neil Mclennan, ising4peace founder, said: “The difficulties created by the Covid-19 crisis have shown the importance of coming together in new ways and the important healing power of music.
“Music provides an important outlet for reflecting, remember and uniting as a global community. It is an international language we can all connect to and enjoy.”
British Red Cross CEO Mike Adamson says: “The idea of a worldwide chorus bringing so much joy and friendship is uplifting and an opportunity for voices across the globe to come together.”
The single is also being supported by Dame Judi Dench and composer Burt Bacharach.
