Cynics and sceptics appear to have been confounded by the spiritual powers of a South African witch doctor. After days of bizarre activities, Chief Nicholas Gcaleka lived up to his own hype by proclaimin­g that a skull in an Easter Ross shed was that of his long-dead ancestor. His declaratio­n was given added piquancy in that the location matched (sort of) his field of dreams, where a white pony would lead him to the skull.
