Death crash driver in court

-

A MAN has been remanded in custody charged with causing the death of two young friends by dangerous driving.

Taylor Hanlon also faces four drug driving charges following a fatal crash involving his sporty blue Subaru Impreza in West Lothian last year.

Troi Lawton, 23, and his best friend Connor Elgey, 19, both died when the car in which they were passengers careered off Longridge Road in Whitburn at around 5am on Saturday, August 29.

Another two men, aged 52 and 28, were detained in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and treated for critical injuries following the crash.

The A706 road between B7010 Fauldhouse Road and Blaeberryhill Road was closed to traffic for around 12 hours as police carried out an investigation.

Hanlon, from Bathgate, West Lothian, appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday via a video link from prison after being detained in custody by police.

He was charged under S1&1A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 with causing death and severe physical injury to others with dangerous driving.

No plea was entered and the case was continued.
