Scotland captain Gemma Fay, pictured, believes Nicola Sturgeon’s attributes will suit her team down to the ground after the First Minister was announced as the side’s first official patron yesterday. Glasgow City goalkeeper Fay said: “She epitomises what we as a national team are about. She’s very passionate about Scotland. She’s got strength and steeliness, and if you look at what we’ve got as a team, te two go hand-in-hand.”

Jones last night described the vote in the country’s referendum for more legislativ­e powers as a historic day in the history of Wales. A total of 517,132 people voted in favour, compared to 297,380 against. The result gives Wales powers to pass its own laws in its 20 devolved areas – like Scotland and Northern Ireland – without requiring the approval of Wetminster.

Gowanbank pupil Sheryl Mckinnon was joined by school friends and their parents last night to stage an overnight sit-in at the Glasgow primary school to protest at closure plans.

The protest began at the Pollok school at 2pm yesterday afternoon and parents said they would continue until 9am today. They then plan to join a mass meeting of protesters at an education committee meeting in Glasgow.

Glasgow Corporatio­n seek to refute responsibi­lity for the presence in a Glasgow street of a derelict car which caught fire while children were playing around it,. They deny liability to pay damages in an action raised in the Court of Session by the mother of an injured child. Mrs Eithne Gallagher or Fraser, whose son Gerald 10, sustained serious burns and disfigurem­ent, alleges that the corporatio­n were negligent in not having the car removed.

It was reported to Glasgow Sub-committee on the prevention of Tuberculos­is yesterday by Dr AK Chalmers, Medical Officer of Health for the city, that 11,116 cases of tuberculos­is were under the observatio­n of his department. The report stated also that during the pa st fortnight the waiting list for the hospitals had increased from 130 to 264, while those awaiting sanatoria treatment had increased from 63 to 75.
