Millionaire told to pay £600k to estranged wife

-

A CARPENTER who became a multi-millionaire businessman after moving from Ireland to England more than 30 years ago has come out on top in a family court fight over money with his estranged wife.

Sharon Horohoe argued that

Ciaran Horohoe should hand her £5 million following the breakdown of their marriage.

But a judge has ruled that she should get a lump sum of £600,000.

Mr Justice Holman has outlined detail of the case in a judgment published online after considering evidence at a family court hearing in London late in 2020.

He heard how both were in their early 50s and had met when in their early 20s, after each had migrated to England from Ireland.

Mr Horohoe had created a construction company, Horohoe Construction, in the late 1990s, which had grown and flourished, and the couple had lived together in London.

The judge said Mr Horohoe was now worth more than £10m.

He heard that the couple had separated a decade ago and in 2012 had reached a post-separation agreement.

Mr Horohoe had relied on the terms of the agreement and offered Mrs Horohoe nothing.

Mrs Horohoe believed that she had been “cheated” and wanted £5m.

The judge said that he was “not prepared to agree” with that and concluded that she should get a lump sum of £600,000.
