Pensioner arrested on suspicion of murder

A man in his 70s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a woman has been held in custody after a body was found.

Officers were called to an address in Plympton, Plymouth, in Devon, after reports of “concern for a man” at 6.10am on Saturday.

A man in his 40s was declared dead at the scene.

Two people have been arrested – a man in his 70s on suspicion of murder, and a woman in her 40s on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the death of the man, whose body was found at an address on Moorland Road, Plympton, is being treated as unexplaine­d.

The two suspects were being held in police custody as the investigat­ion continues.

A police spokespers­on said: “Emergency services attended and a man in his 40s was declared deceased at the scene. His death is currently being treated as unexplaine­d.

“A man in his 70s from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a woman in her 40s from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender .”
