Man loses half his hand after firework blows up

-

A MAN is reportedly missing half his hand after a firework he was holding blew up during the celebrations by Rangers fans on Saturday.

An accident and emergency source said the man had been admitted to hospital during the celebrations that took place across Glasgow.

But the party turned sour as supporters attacked each other and launched traffic cones and other missiles at riot police.

Scottish Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf used social media to issue strong criticism of those who gathered in the city centre throughout Saturday.

He said yesterday it was “disgraceful” that officers were subject to “the kind of thuggery we saw last night”.

He tweeted: “Incidents of violence, disorder, anti-catholic and any other hatred will be followed up.”

On Friday night, scores of Rangers fans in the city lined the River

Clyde walkways and simultaneously lit red flares as they marked the end of the club’s season.

Police officers were sent to the south of the river Clyde, near the Clyde Arc bridge, often known as the Squinty Bridge around

10.20pm when the display unfolded.
