The Secret Life of the Zoo Channel 4, 8pm

There’s never a dull moment for the keepers at Chester Zoo – no two days are ever the same and this week’s visit is no exception. They’re forced to play Cupid and persuade a couple of Kenyan antelopes to mate, but the moody pair aren’t hitting it off at all. Resident crocodiles Frank and Frankie need a blood test, a task that’s easier said than done, while a family of silver-eared mesias is tossed out of their home in a storm, and a malagasy giant rat called George needs urgent surgery on his tummy.

Long Lost Family STV, 9pm

Have the hankies on standby for this week’s episode. Retired merchant seamen Roy David was born in the former British Guiana and met his first wife Sylvia in New York while working there. He hasn’t seen his daughter for nearly 60 years, since she was a little girl. Now, with his 87th birthday looming, Roy wants Cheryl’s forgiveness for not trying harder and standing up for his rights as a father, and doesn’t want to go to his “resting place” without seeing her again. However, his search sparks another one and affects people across the globe and across the generations.

Sex & Power: Tabloids Channel 5, 9pm

Say what you like about the red tops, they know how to generate a conversation. This three-part series explores how the tabloids have represented, reflected or influenced the way Britain behaved, acted and reacted to events. It begins with their impact on the lives of four women: Ulrika Jonsson, Kerry Katona, Daniella Westbrook and Princess Diana, examining how, whether planned or not, they ended up at the heart of the intertwined narratives of tabloid newspapers and celebrity culture, and the price they paid for it.

Back to Life BBC1, 10.35pm

Daisy Haggard is back as Miri Matteson in this acclaimed comedy drama, teaming up with co-creator Laura Solon for writing duties once again. It begins six weeks after leaving prison, and Miri is trying to adjust to life on the outside. She’s got a trial job at the local supermarket, and she’s also spending more time with neighbour Billy. Miri avoids best mate Mandy after learning about her affair with Lara’s father, but things get a lot more complicated when the dead girl’s mother breezes back into town.
