FOUR OF THE BEST
Masterchef: The Professionals
BBC1, 7.40pm
In the first of tonight’s two servings, four more professional chefs arrive in the kitchen, ready to try to impress Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace. The first two chefs get their chance to show off their skills (or at least that’s the idea) when Marcus asks them to make a prawn, avocado and pepper omelette served with prawn oil. The experts will be expecting a flawless dish with an even colour and a smooth finish. The next two chefs are making chicken kofte served with flatbread and cucumber salad, which requires timing as well as butchery and pastry skills, all in 20 minutes.
The Princes and the Press
BBC2, 9pm
The first part of this documentary looked at the years following the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, when the media seemed largely positive about the emergence of a new generation of royals. However, as we all know, it wouldn’t be long before the relationship between the princes and the press would be come a lot more strained. So, in the concluding episode, the BBC’S Media Editor Amol Rajan focuses on the tumultuous period from 2018 to 2021, which took in the birth of Archie Mountbattenwindsor, the royal tours of the Sussexes and the Cambridges, and the Sussexes’ announcement that they were stepping down from their royal roles. The presenter looks at the circumstances surrounding that decision, and asks how Princess Diana’s experiences continue to shape her son’s relationships with the media.
Along for the Ride with David O’doherty
Channel 4, 10pm
For the second episode in his freewheeling series, comedian David O’doherty is getting on his bike with Grayson Perry. As well as being an artist and TV presenter, Grayson is also a former mountain-bike racer, so he should be in his element as they head to the wilds of the Brecon Beacons, where there are stunning views – and challenging hills. During the trip, they bond by chatting about the artist’s career, childhood and his disdain for nature. But is there a chance they’ve bonded a little too much when they have to tackle a gruelling five-mile climb while nursing hangovers?
Guy’s Garage
Channel 4, 9pm
Guy plans to create a racing version of a Piaggio Ape - the tiny threewheeled vehicles that are ubiquitous across Italy. While these vehicles were never designed with motorsport in mind, he discovers a racing scene based around them has sprung up in Italy, with drivers customising their Apes with motorcycle engines and improved suspension
