FOUR OF THE BEST

-

Davina Mccall: Sex, Mind and the Menopause Channel 4, 9pm

Last year, Davina Mccall fronted a documentary close to her heart. Entitled Sex, Myths and the Menopause, it charted her personal journey through a key event in a woman’s life, and received such a positive response from others dealing with ‘the change’ that she’s back with a follow-up. This time the focus is on menopause in the workplace. She investigates whether women are sidelined, sacked or forced to go parttime as a result of their employers not fully understanding their situation. Louisa Compton, Channel 4’s Head of News and Current Affairs and Sport, says of the programme: “It will look firmly at what happens in the workplace to try and ensure that the symptoms of the menopause will no longer put the brakes on women’s careers.”

The Split

BBC1, 9pm

We’ve been watching Nina and Tyler’s affair from afar with interest for some time now. Are they really soul mates who have found each other and are destined to be together for ever, or are they both turned on by the danger of an illicit relationship that would fizzle out once they were caught? We could be about to find out as Ruth learns what’s been going on – and the extent of Tyler’s deceit is finally revealed. Meanwhile, a family camping trip seems to heap more misery on a grieving Rose as she continues to struggle without James.

Married to a Psychopath

Channel 4, 10pm

Apparently, everyone has psychopathic tendencies to a degree, it’s just that the vast majority of us don’t act on them. This two-part documentary focuses on someone who certainly did – and the man who set out to bring him to justice. Charles Henry was a detective whose rural Scottish patch didn’t really keep him busy, leaving him with plenty of time to investigate the behaviour of Malcolm Webster, a wicked predator with a lust for money who targeted wealthy women.

imagine – Jacob Collier: In the Room Where it Happens BBC1, 10.40pm

He’s still only in his twenties, and yet James Collier already has the music world at his feet. Both Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock – who, let’s face it, know a thing or two about the subject – claim he’s one of the most talented musicians around today. Now Alan Yentob wants to know more about the multi-instrumentalist, singer and arranger, so is meeting up with him for a revealing chat. Luminaries who have worked with Collier, including Stormzy, Chris Martin and Hans Zimmer, also offer their opinions.
