Eurovision: Secrets and Scandals Channel 5, 8pm

On Saturday May 14, the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Turin, Italy. To get us in the mood, Channel 5 brings us this documentary, reminding us that behind the camp costumes and seemingly nonsensical lyrics lies a competition riven with politics, diva behaviour and controversy. Contributions including Cheryl Baker, Andy Abraham and former host Jan Leeming reveal what happens on and offstage, and there’s a look at why the BBC hasn’t always been an enthusiastic supporter of what is now an annual tradition. It also turns out that moaning that the UK failed to win due to other countries conspiring against us isn’t an entirely new phenomenon as the show explores the murky rumours that Cliff Richard was robbed of his 1968 win by General Franco of Spain.

Here We Go BBC1, 8.30pm

Commissioning a local artist to paint a family portrait may seem like a nice idea, but it’s going to have unexpected consequences for Rachel in the latest episode of the sitcom. For a start, she thinks the artist in question, Frank, has deliberately made her look old, so she tries to fix the painting – only for Frank to then ask for it back so he can include it in an exhibition. Meanwhile, an awkward encounter with the artists inspires Sue to splash out on a swimming pool to help her recovery following a hip operation, and Paul struggles with a month–long detox.

The Terror: Infamy BBC2, 9pm

If you missed last week’s opening double bill, the latest series of The Terror mixes a difficult period in US history with a ghost story to haunting effect. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Japanese–american residents of Terminal Island family are being held in an internment camp. As Chester tries to protect his family, Henry is struggling to deal with being imprisoned, and Asako worries about bad omens. Speaking of potential bad omens, in tonight’s second instalment, the Nakayamas commemorate the spirits of the dead.

The Other One BBC1, 9.30pm

As if Cathy and Cat didn’t have enough to deal with thanks to their increasingly complicated family lives, they have problems at work this week too. As Cat reignites her feud with a rival delivery driver, Cathy is passed over for a promotion, leading to humiliation – and a head injury. Meanwhile, Angela is fast wearing out her welcome at Marilyn’s as she turns to the bottle to deal with being rejected by her husband and son, while Tess’s holiday isn’t as much fun as she had hoped, especially as Colin’s elusive pension money still hasn’t arrived.
