Five fans of Frankfurt arrested in Seville

-

FIVE Eintracht Frankfurt ultras were arrested after reportedly attacking Rangers fans in the streets of Seville on Tuesday night, Spanish police said.

One Rangers supporter was injured as a result of the alleged incident.

In a statement the Policia Nacional confirmed a “massive fight” broke out in front of the Seville Cathedral, near the city’s historic centre.

Members of the Unidades de Intervencion Policial, a force responsible for public safety, who were stationed nearby, reportedly had to intervene to break up the incident, which occurred around midnight.

The force said that as officers approached, the group of around 200 Eintracht Frankfurt ultras started fleeing the area while attacking Rangers fans.

It was at this point that the German supporters reportedly started throwing “glasses, flares and tables”.

The police had set up “containment lines” with their vehicles in the area and fired a few salvos, in an attempt to contain the disorders.

The force then arrested four German fans near Paseo de Colon and another in Puerta de Jerez on suspicion of “public disorder”.
