‘Year of the Flaw’ predicted for Musk after Twitter deal

-

IN the wake of Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of Twitter, Sir Tom and Lord Haughey have both voiced concerns for the future of the company’s employees, with Sir Tom admitting his “bromance” with his hero is now “on a sticky wicket”.

Speaking on the Go Radio Business Show, Sir Tom said: “Elon Musk sacked half the workforce – they got an email saying don’t bother coming back, which is terrible. And then in an ‘all-hands meeting’ he said the company might even go bankrupt. He has also banned employees working from home.”

Lord Haughey shared Sir Tom’s fears for the firm’s employees, adding: “He said Twitter will definitely become bankrupt, if employees don’t all come into work every day.

“I’m going to give another exclusive here. I think 2023 is going to be make or break for Elon Musk. I just hope all of these recent events don’t go to his head. Look at what’s happened to him in a week, with the pushback on the

$20 for the blue tick, then he couldn’t work out what you actually got for the money anyway. Now, in the past couple of days came news of just how many people might be laid off, which is a shame.

“He also got all political, all of a sudden. He’s been a Democrat all of his life and suddenly last week he was telling people to put the GOP [Republican Party] in the Senate. Now he has tried to backtrack on this. I think he’s a bit confused.”

Sir Tom countered: “I’m not quite as pessimistic. I find it hard to bet against him. The stuff he’s done in Tesla and Spacex is genius. This Twitter episode may be a misstep, but we all make missteps. But it might be $44 billion down the sink!”

Lord Willie concluded: “I’ve always called him a flawed genius and I think 2023 will be the ‘Year of the Flaw’ for him.”
