As a result, festive treats are big business and, as Jo Brand discovers, the competition to be Britain’s festive chocolatier of choice has always been fierce. Beyond the Yorkshire Farm: Reuben & Clive Channel 5, 9pm
Over the past few years, viewers have seen Amanda and Clive Owen raise their nine children, so it may come as something as a shock to discover that Reuben is now 18 and ready to start a business of his own. This series follows him and his dad as they leave their remote hill farm in the Yorkshire Dales to embark on an exciting digging venture together. In the first episode, Reuben is commissioned to dig a series of wilderness ponds in the village of Langwathby, Cumbria – but he’s carrying out the work in the hottest August on record.
How to Crack the Class Ceiling BBC2, 9pm
There’s been a lot of talk online recently about so-called “nepotism babies” dominating the entertainment and fashion industries, but it’s not just modelling and movies that can feel like a closed shop. Banking and law are also traditionally dominated by the middle classes, so in this two-part documentary Amol Rajan is finding out what young people from working-class backgrounds can do to get ahead. Along the way, he meets Chris, who fears his Hull accent is holding him back, and Paige, who is worried that she doesn’t look or sound like a typical barrister. Meanwhile, Adnan wonders whether he should mention his background in finance interviews. Are there any tips of tricks available to help them breakthrough, or is the system truly stacked against them?
The Traitors BBC1, 9pm
We’re on to the fourth episode of the series, and the suspicion is simmering nicely among the competitors – but Claudia Winkleman’s latest revelation could well throw the castle into chaos. However, the players need to put their difference aside for their latest mission, which could potentially add another £10,000 to the prize pot. The team spirit is unlikely to last for long though, as there’s a tense round table in the offing, where one player will face an extremely difficult decision.
