Wildlife Rescue

Channel 4, 8pm

Founded in 1995 by Sue Schwar, the award–winning South Essex Wildlife Hospital provides veterinary care and rehabilita­tion for sick, injured and orphaned animals in south–east England. Open seven days a week, 365 days a year, the dedicated staff there are committed to putting ‘life’ back into the ‘wild’. They treat over 9,000 patients a year, and pride themselves on never turning away a sick or injured animal. This new series follows the team, who tonight face a race against time to prevent a fox from suffocatio­n after he gets his head stuck in a plastic bottle at a building site. Meanwhile, a swan needs life–saving surgery when she swallows a fisherman’s hook. Finally, a grey seal pup is recovering from a dog attack.

The Twelve STV, 9pm

Claire’s father Nathan is called to the stand, and soon paints Kate as a sexual predator, who groomed Claire before murdering her. However, Colby throws suspicion back onto Nathan when it’s revealed he had a false online persona, posing as a young girl in order to monitor Claire’s social media. The courtroom is also given a taste of Nathan’s temper when Colby gets under his skin. Meanwhile, some jurors struggle with the mounting pressures of life outside the jury room. Georgina’s husband’s controllin­g behaviour goes from bad to worse, and Alexi is plagued with guilt over Luiz’s death.

Taskmaster Channel 4, 9pm

It’s the fourth week, so we should, in theory, be getting a good idea of which of the five contestant­s is most likely to win Greg Davies’ coveted golden head. Tonight, the quintet are forced to wrangle wild animals – with unpleasant consequenc­es for Sophie Willan and Steve Pemberton. Meanwhile, Greg’s loyal valet Alex Horne watches on as Joanne Mcnally demonstrat­es a traditiona­l Irish handshake, John Robins reveals a love of pickled onions, and Nick Mohammed sparks controvers­y with a cardboard tube.

He was a political heavyweigh­t, an inspiratio­nal figure and a global icon for the repressed and incarcerat­ed. Throughout his extraordin­ary life, Nelson Mandela went from activist in his 20s to political prisoner for 27 years until finally becoming the leader of South Africa from 1994 to 1999 and a revered statesman on the world stage. But who was the real Mandela? The latest edition of the biographic­al documentar­y explores the varied life and true nature of the iconic individual who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.
