In some parts of Britain, a budget of over a million would buy a property that ticks a lot of boxes. However, world–record–holding rower Kat is looking for a townhouse in her beloved South London, and Phil Spencer is finding it hard to come up with something that meets all the criteria on her wish list. Meanwhile, in theory first–time buyers Adam and Nicole are keen to move out of their respective parents’ homes and into their own place, but as Kirstie Allsopp discovers, after working to save up a deposit, the idea of finally taking the plunge is proving daunting.

Race Across the World BBC1, 9pm

They may be racing against each other, but the remaining teams still come together this week to mark Owen’s impending 21st birthday. Then it’s time for them all to set off on the next leg, which sees Owen spending his big day in Padang with a local fisherman and his family, who take him and Alfie into the heart of their community. But the pair still feel like celebrating when they take a chance on the roads along Sumatra’s southern coast? They may currently have an impressive lead, but on an island with limited accommodation options and a somewhat ad–hoc transport system, it may be easy to fall behind, especially as there are few English speakers among the local population.

Secrets and Spies: A Nuclear Game BBC2, 9pm

The fascinating documentary series concludes with the events of 1985, when Mikhail Gorbachev became the leader of the Soviet Union, and tentative moves began towards peace. It also explores how Oleg Gordievsky’s KGB bosses had become increasingly suspicious, leading them to drug and interrogate him. So, Gordievsky contacted his British handlers, who came up with a daring operation to smuggle him across the Finnish border. When the news of his escape broke, blame landed in Leningrad among colleagues of another young KGB agent, Vladimir Putin.

Inside No 9 BBC2, 10pm

Even as they reach the final series of their darkly comic anthology, Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton are still coming up with new ideas. Take this episode, which Steve has singled out as a particular favourite – they decided it would be interesting to shoot an episode through a fixed doorbell camera, and the script flowed from there. Dorothy Atkinson, Vinette Robinson and Adrian Scarborough guest star in the tale of Mulberry Close, where the residents are keen to welcome their new neighbours, even if there is something a little odd about the couple at No 9.
