Firms urged to take on apprentices
EMPLOYERS across Scotland will be encouraged to employ more Modern Apprentices as the third Scottish Apprenticeship Week gets under way on Monday, May 20.
Skills Development Scotland wants to work with bosses to recruit 25,000 new Modern Apprentices – matching the 25,000 training last year across more than 80 different occupations.
Companies have joined colleges, local authorities and sector skills councils to organise events throughout the week.
Skills Development Scotland chairperson John McClelland said: “The main aims of Scottish Apprenticeship Week are to show employers the tangible benefits Modern Apprentices can bring to their businesses, as well as giving people a vital start in their careers.”
