Bartley excited to work with Stubbs
HIBERNIAN’S latest summer signing Marvin Bartley insists he can already see shades of Eddie Howe – his former Bournemouth manager who guided the coastal club to the Barclays Premier League for the first time in their history – in his new boss Alan Stubbs.
The 29-year-old played 75 games under Howe, helping Bournemouth win promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.
Bartley said: “Speaking to the gaffer [Stubbs], he is very similar to Eddie in the way he comes across, the drive he has and the way he wants to play his football. They are very similar in their football philosophy and that was a huge factor for me.”
Allan Johnston, the Dunfermline manager, has completed a double signing after fans’ favourite Joe Cardle, a free agent after his Ross County release, and goalkeeper Sean Murdoch agreed returns to East End Park.
