Loy bags his first as Dundee beat Wigan

RORY LOY netted his first goal in a Dundee shirt as the Dens Park side beat Wigan Athletic 1-0 in a friendly.

The former Falkirk striker – who agreed a pre-contract deal with Dundee manager Paul Hartley in February ahead of his move – stabbed home from six yards after a neat cutback from Greig Stewart with 20 minutes left to play.

Gary Caldwell’s visiting English League One outfit squandered their best chance on 21 minutes when Will Grigg fired over the bar from the spot after being brought down in the box by Gary Irvine. Hartley will take positives from a solid performance ahead of their meeting with English Premier League side Everton on Tuesday.
