Hay takes Oban job as Campbell departs

-

NEWLY promoted Oban Camanachd will go into today’s all-south Artemis Macaulay Cup semi-final with Inveraray minus the man who guided them back to the big time.

Manager Gus Campbell has tendered his resignation at Mossfield Park, citing health reasons for his decision to take a break from the sport.

Well-liked throughout the game, Campbell unified a troubled club and his influence and leadership will be sorely missed in the island gateway town. Assistant manager Ian Hay will take the reins today, with Oban only 90 minutes from a major final on their own park.

Campbell will be hoping his old charges can do the job and believes the club is in a better place today. “It was great to take the club back into the Premier League and I believe the future is bright,” said the former player and club captain.
