‘I will fight for a medal’ says Daley on Olympics

-

GREAT Britain’s Tom Daley has vowed to be back in top form for the Olympic Games after being edged into fourth place in the men’s 10m platform event at the FINA/NVC Diving World Series in Beijing.

Olympic bronze medallist Daley missed out on a podium finish to Russian Viktor Minibaev by 0.95 points as Chinese divers dominated the final day of the competition yesterday.

Chen Aisen took gold with 572.40 points ahead of World Cup champion and Olympic runner-up Qiu Bo.

“It is my first individual platform competition of the season,” said Daley. “I think I am now at 70 per cent of my form, and hopefully I will be 100 per cent in shape at the Olympic Games. What I need to do is to sharpen some of my dives, keep consistency and compete as much as I can with the best divers in the world. The divers tonight in the final should be the finalists at Rio, I will fight out for a medal then.”
