I’m ready for my shot at big time — El Bakhtaoui
FAISSAL El Bakhtaoui, the in-demand Dunfermline striker, feels he can make an impact at one of the Premiership’s big clubs.
The 23-year-old, of French-Moroccan descent, scored 30 goals in 40 appearances as the Fife club won League One by a distance this season. Out of contract this summer, Dunfermline appear resigned to lose his services, with Aberdeen, Motherwell, Hibs and Fleetwood Town all linked with the player. There have also been whispers that Rangers are monitoring the situation.
“There are two weeks left of the season and I know there is a lot of speculation about me,” said El Bakhtaoui, named on the fourman shortlist for the PFA Scotland League One player of the year award. “Dunfermline have not offered me a new contract yet but I have been talking to my agent about a new deal and stuff like that.
“I am happy at Dunfermline and it is a good changing room, and I get on great with the lads. But I feel that I am ready to play in the big division in Scotland.”
