Rangers vow to send clubs SPFL ‘dossier’ Ibrox club promise to prove chiefs mishandled vital vote

RANGERS last night pledged to supply clubs with the evidence of SPFL wrongdoing they have accumulated ahead of the general meeting they have called in a bid to get an independent investigation.

The Ibrox club, along with two other Scottish clubs, submitted a members’ requisition to the governing body on Friday calling for a general meeting. They had demanded SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster and legal adviser Rod McKenzie be suspended pending the outcome of an external inquiry into the resolution on the end of the season earlier this month.

The Ladbrokes Premiership outfit had accused the SPFL of bullying and coercion in the build-up to the vote after revealing they had been presented with evidence by a “whistleblower”.

Rangers dismissed the investigation by auditors Deloitte into the email Dundee sent in before the requested 5pm deadline on April 10, which cleared the SPFL of foul play last week, because they felt it was too “narrow in its scope”.

The three clubs who have submitted the requisition will need to get a 75 per cent majority – which will mean they need another 29 clubs to back them – at a vote in order to get a fresh probe.

And last night Rangers confirmed they will provide the other 41 members clubs with the “dossier of evidence” they have put together on the conduct of senior officials within the organisation before the general meeting.

A statement on their official website read: “There are key issues to be discussed and agreed within Scottish football including the circumstances and dates on which football can resume, the health and safety of all involved and the financial implications for members.

“It is vital that those involved in making those decisions have the confidence and support of member clubs. An independent investigation provides a route to achieving this.

“It has always been Rangers’ intention to produce our evidence at the appropriate time. The evidence will be provided to all member clubs well in advance of a general meeting to approve an independent investigation.”
