Winger vows to add goals to game
MOI Elyounoussi has vowed to chip in with more goals and assists this season as he continues to improve his working relationship with Greg Taylor.
The pair play on the left-hand side and have developed an understanding. The Norwegian winger notched seven goals in 20 appearances during his first loan spell at Parkhead last season but an injury stalled his progress and ability to add more strikes to his tally.
But after a conversation with manager Neil Lennon, Elyounoussi is adamant he will continue to make opportunities for himself to score. He just has to take them when they come around.
“My best return in one season was with Basel in 2017/18,” Elyounoussi said. “I scored 13 goals and got 17 assists and that is probably the best record I have had in my career so far. At Celtic, the manager wants me to get a lot of goals and assists. The good thing is that I know when I step on to the pitch that I will probably get at least one chance in every game.
all about me being clinical when I get into the position to score. Against Ross County I scored with my first chance of the game. It was a great cross from Jeremie [Frimpong] and I was happy. I am feeling sharp and I think all the boys are looking good.”
Elyounoussi missed 11 games in total last season due to his foot injury but wants to make up for lost time.
“It was difficult last season but I feel fit now,” he added. “The connection gets better all the time and we have been trying to build that up on the left side with Greg [Taylor].
“You can see it gets better all the time and with more games, hopefully we will be even stronger as the season goes on.”
