1992 Martin Offiah became the most valuable player in rugby league history when he joined Wigan for £440,000. 2004 Robbie Savage stunned Birmingham by handing in a transfer request, claiming he wanted to move nearer his family in Wales. Later in January he joined Blackburn.

2016 Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow put on a 399-run stand on day two of England’s second Test against South Africa in Cape Town. Stokes scored 258 in 198 balls and Bairstow added his maiden Test hundred (150 not out).
