What is it?
A STYLISH cycling jacket sporting built-in lights. With the nights fair drawing in and autumn upon us, it is time to mothball that summer wardrobe for another year. Most people associate cycling attire with Lycra or retina-searing luminous waterproofs but a commuting revolution has shifted that paradigm. It’s now possible to wear cyclingspecific clothing throughout the day without enduring a slew of Mamil jokes.
Good points?
This modern take on a classic design should appeal to bike aficionados and hipsters alike. The material is lightweight, providing comfort and protection. A whiteon-red polka-dot trim is enough of a subtle (inverse) nod to the Tour de France king of the mountains jersey to be cool.
A technical fabric keeps you cool and dry. The jacket behaves like any other until you start to ride, then you notice how comfortable it is, stretching and supporting in all the right places. It has abundant pockets and a dropped hem to keep you covered on the bike.
The 14x4 lumen LEDs lining the seams on the front and rear are powerful without making you feel like a Christmas tree on wheels. The removable battery pack is no bigger or heavier than a small remote control and can be charged via USB cable.
Bad points?
The jacket is hand-wash only which isn’t ideal for muddy winter commutes.
Best for …
Those who value style and performance in equal measure.
Avoid if …
You baulk at the thought of a jacket which costs as much as some bikes.
