What is it?

A handy flash drive allowing you to connect across dual ports. Despite ever-expanding cloud storage, it is still necessary in some circumstances to transfer data directly between devices.

This could be swapping holiday snaps with new friends at an airport or providing video evidence of a theft to the authorities.

The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C (yup, that’s a mouthful) is the latest device to cater for your data transferring needs. It provides a quick and convenient connection to both traditional USB and new standard USB Type-C devices.

Good points?

The diminutive gadget is reminiscent of a razor guard and small enough to fit in any pocket, coming equipped with lanyard or keyring attachment holes to prevent loss.

Having the option of USB or USB Type-C connectors allows cross-compatibility between older computers and newer hardware such as smartphone and tablets.

SanDisk’s mobile application does a great job of sorting and organising your data for efficient retrieval and access.

Ideal for anyone whose pertinacity for storing every photograph ever taken is steadily eating up their phone’s memory.

It’s compatible with Windows, Mac and Android devices. Available in a range of sizes from 16GB to 256GB.

Bad points?

The plastic edges and thumb slider can feel a little flimsy, which makes one-handed operation a tad tricky.

Best for ...

Those who regularly need to move data securely between older and newer devices without having to entrust your information to third-party storage companies.

Avoid if ...

You only work in hard copies and think software is for wimps.

Score: 8/10.
