SATURDAY

Inspector Montalbano (BBC4, 9pm)

BBC4’s Saturday evening European drama slot is about to get a lot sunnier with the return of the Sicilian detective series. But just because the scenery is nicer than in some of the channel’s Scandi-noir offerings, it doesn’t mean that the plots aren’t gritty, as in this edition Montalbano (Luca Zingaretti) investigates when a shop burns down – and the owner is nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, he deals with a puzzling string of kidnappings, in which female victims are abducted then released.

The Keith & Paddy Picture Show (STV, 9.20pm) Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is due for release next month but if you can’t wait that long for some dinosaur action, Keith Lemon and Paddy McGuinness are concluding their series by recreating the film that started it all, Jurassic Park. They’ll be parodying the key scenes in just half an hour – and with a lot less than half the budget. But while they may not be able to stretch to special effects to rival Steven Spielberg’s original, they have a star-studded cast including Sian Gibson, Sally Phillips, George Potts and Shaun Ryder.

All Round to Mrs Brown’s (BBC1, 9.20pm)

Mrs Brown’s Boys creator, writer and star Brendan O’Carroll dons Agnes’s famous cardigan and curlers once again, throwing open the doors of the larger-than-life Irish matriarch’s home to host the Saturday night chat show, filmed in front of a studio audience. In this first episode, she welcomes EastEnders hardman Danny Dyer, boxer and former I’m a Celebrity contestant Amir Khan and TV presenter Kate Humble.

The Royal Wedding: Highlights of the Day (BBC2, 7pm)

Unless they already had plans in place before the date was announced, chances are that anybody who was interested in seeing Prince Harry and his former actress bride Meghan Markle tie the knot watched the whole shebang live earlier in the day. The BBC’s coverage promised to be pretty comprehensive, so if you did somehow miss it, or want to relive the entire experience all over again, you’ll be pleased to know that all the most memorable scenes are set to feature in this programme – and at 90 minutes long there’s plenty of time to see an awful lot of what went on, from the guests arriving at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel to the vows themselves.

SUNDAY

RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018 (BBC1, 6pm) Sophie Raworth and Joe Swift host a preview of the Royal Horticultural Society’s event and a guide to some of the gardens on display. Nick Knowles presents a special showcase of gardens created to raise awareness on current issues, while Floella Benjamin introduces a look at an exhibit celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Windrush generation and charting their influence on British culture. Adam Frost and Carol Klein look at some of the other entries, revisiting familiar faces from past shows.

Midsomer Murders (STV, 8pm)

Musicians compete for a prestigious award at the

annual Thassingham Classical Music Festival – and Barnaby and Winter are called in when the winner is brutally murdered and his priceless violin is stolen. Suspicion rapidly falls on the maestro organising the festival, who had planned to debut his new composition at the event and has stirred up resentment by turning a community festival into a corporate one – while many suspect that the murder is the result of a curse. Guest-starring James Fleet and Simon Callow.

A Very English Scandal (BBC1, 9pm)

The last time most viewers saw (or at least heard) Ben Whishaw and Hugh Grant together was in Paddington 2 – Whishaw provided the voice of the marmalade-loving bear and Grant played the
