SATURDAY Nothing Like a Dame (BBC2, 9pm)

Imagine being invited to spend a weekend at the home that Joan Plowright shared with her husband, Laurence Olivier. Plowright will be there, as well her fellow acting Dames Maggie Smith, Eileen Atkins and, of course, Judi Dench. What would you talk about? Probably not the weather, but certainly their long and hugely successful careers - how could you resist asking them what it’s like to work with various other luminaries, including the aforementi­oned Olivier? Although we won’t actually be present at this meeting, director Roger Michell is offering us the next best thing via this charming documentar­y namely a chance to see the quartet together, discussing their lives to date complete with anecdotes and witty asides.

Inspector Montalbano (BBC4, 9pm)

Following the bizarre arson and kidnapping case a fortnight ago, Luca Zingaretti’s curmudgeon­ly Sicilian police inspector returns to investigat­e the disappeara­nce of a former prostitute. Montalbano speaks to the woman’s sister who tells him that her sibling had recently fallen in love. So off the police head to confront her lover, who also seems to be puzzled about his partner’s whereabout­s. But is this seemingly meek and gentle man hiding a sinister secret? Or is there something even more complex behind the mystery?

All Round to Mrs Brown’s (BBC1, 9.10pm)

Mrs Brown’s Boys creator, writer and star Brendan O’Carroll dons Agnes’s famous cardigan and curlers once again, throwing open the doors of the larger-than-life Irish matriarch’s home for the Saturday night chat show, filmed in front of a live studio audience. Joining in the fun this time around are musical duo Sting & Shaggy, This Morning’s resident chef and star of Celebrity Juice Gino D’Acampo, Loose Women presenter Christine Lampard, and Dragons’ Den stalwarts Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden.

Live Internatio­nal Rugby (Channel 4, 9.20pm)

America’s small but dedicated band of rugby fans get a rare chance to see two leading nations go head to head, as Wales take on South Africa at the Robert F Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington DC. The last time the teams met, in December 2017, Wales triumphed 24-22 with two tries from Hadleigh Parkes and one from Scott Williams. Both have been named in the tour party, but coach Warren Gatland is likely to start with an experiment­al XV tonight, as he rests some of those who toured New Zealand with the Lions last summer.

SUNDAY Journey in the Danger Zone: Iraq (BBC2, 8pm)

Adnan Sarwar arrived in Iraq in 2003 as a 24 yearold soldier with the British army. He initially viewed his mission as liberating the country’s people from Saddam Hussein, but when parts of the population turned against the allied forces, Adnan’s life was changed forever by an ambush which killed one of his friends. Sarwar saw first-hand how driving Saddam from power led to more violence, but now, with ISIS gone, he is travelling back to Iraq to discover the country afresh. He walks with minecleari­ng teams in Mosul, joins wildlife
