THE MELVILLE at Ravelrig Heights in Balerno scooped the prized title of Best Show Home at the recent Herald Property Awards, the second year in succession the category was won by housebuilder CALA Homes (East).

The five-bedroom detached home – popular across a range of CALA developments that feature the Light and Space Collection – has been carefully considered, with family life factoring into every design feature.

The Melville is also one of three beautiful showhomes, allowing interested buyers to step foot into the home to envisage how it could work for them. With designs by the renowned Envision Interior Design, the showhome also received a commendation in the category Best Showhome at The Herald Property Awards ceremony.

Philip Hogg, Sales and Marketing Director with CALA Homes (East), said: “Families by their very nature grow – and their requirements change year after year.

“The design team have done an incredible job creating Scotland’s best large family home - ensuring every inch of The Melville suits expanding family living.

“The devil really is in the small details – so we’re thrilled for this to have been recognised by the judges at The Herald Property Awards.”

The Melville was recently redesigned as part of CALA’s new

Light and Space Collection. Its vast double-height entrance allows for easy monitoring of children with the gallery landing also offering plentiful natural light into the heart of the home and views out into the front garden space, thanks to additional enhanced windows located above the door.

Flexible living has been achieved with a large and practical open plan kitchen with silestone kitchen worktop as standard at Ravelrig Heights, thanks to the development’s enhanced specifications.

The design also pays careful attention to the requirements of parents and their need for solace, with a secluded ground floor living room, contrasting with the open-plan family space.

A distinct master suite is the homes secret marvel, located above the garage, creating a peaceful retreat at the end of a busy day.

A further four bedrooms, with even the smallest large enough for a double bed ensure space for the family to grow. Philip added: “Since the show homes opened, demand has been extremely high.

“The standard of properties and the location of the development have played a large part in this.

Launched in November last year and with prices ranging from £570,000 to £960,000 the impressive family homes also benefit from large plot sizes with turfed gardens as standard. The development is situated around landscaped gardens with characterful seating and signature tree planting.

The homes offer potential buyers a slice of semi-rural luxury yet with great connections to the village centre and the capital, while open views extend out across the rolling countryside towards the iconic Forth bridges.
