AN iconic B-listed former church in the West End of Glasgow has scooped the top award of Property Developmen­t of the Year at the Property Investors Awards in London.

Situated in Great George Street, just off Byres Road, Belmont Church, as it was initially known, was designed by Glasgow architect James Miller in 1894 and later became Lilybank Church. Sold in 2007, the economic downturn put paid to a commercial enterprise and the landmark building lay empty for several years until 2010, when plans were drawn up by RH Contracts to convert the red sandstone building into 21 unique apartments and three new build detached and semi-detached urban homes.
