AN iconic B-listed for­mer church in the West End of Glas­gow has scooped the top award of Prop­erty De­vel­op­ment of the Year at the Prop­erty In­vestors Awards in Lon­don.

Sit­u­ated in Great Ge­orge Street, just off Byres Road, Bel­mont Church, as it was ini­tially known, was de­signed by Glas­gow ar­chi­tect James Miller in 1894 and later be­came Lily­bank Church. Sold in 2007, the eco­nomic down­turn put paid to a com­mer­cial en­ter­prise and the land­mark build­ing lay empty for sev­eral years un­til 2010, when plans were drawn up by RH Con­tracts to con­vert the red sand­stone build­ing into 21 unique apart­ments and three new build de­tached and semi-de­tached ur­ban homes.
