Your chance to allow guiding lights to shine
nearly 5000 young people have participated so far. The ongoing pandemic has brought new worries and many young people have said it’s had an impact on their happiness, mental health and wellbeing.
The fun and friendship girls experience from guiding makes a big difference, so that’s why the programme has been adapted to be delivered outdoors and online, in line with restrictions. The regularity of meeting with a unit alongside the interesting activities it offers helps relieve loneliness and anxiety.
From a Rainbow’s first time camping to supporting Rangers to speak out on issues they care about, the positive impact guiding has on lives of girls and young women is clear. Determined to make Scotland the best place to grow up as a girl, the charity wants to bring the benefits of guiding to more girls and adults across Scotland.
That’s why the organisation’s new Sponsor a Girl fund has been launched – and it does exactly what it says on the tin. A £40 gift supports a girl who’s been financially impacted by Covid-19 to pay her annual Girlguiding membership, giving her access to all that guiding has to offer throughout 2021.
This means she can go to her weekly meetings; access a safe space to hang out with other girls; have a place to be herself and time out to have fun and try new things.
