NUMBER 16 Sackville Avenue in Anniesland is an aesthetically appealing mid-terraced property that packs in a lot more than kerb appeal; behind the narrow facade is an astonishingly spacious three-bedroomed, two-storey family home with an enclosed, south-facing rear garden and a coveted G13 postcode within the catchment area for Jordanhill School.

But this home’s unique selling point is the interior, finished to an exacting professional standard throughout by Glasgow-based Linda Reid Interiors.

On the ground level is an entrance hall (with built-in storage) leading to a frontfacing bedroom/study, adjoining shower room, and the main event – a superb openplan kitchen/living/dining area with glazed double doors that lead onto the immaculate rear garden.

A staircase in the hall leads up to a bright landing lit by a Velux window, off which is a contemporary bathroom (bath and separate walk-in shower) and front-facing double bedroom with two Velux windows.

There’s also an 18ft principal bedroom enhanced by full-width sliding patio doors opening onto a covered balcony with glass balustrade overlooking the south-facing garden.

Both upstairs bedrooms have built-in storage, as does the top landing.

But the standout feature is the openplan living space, which has wood flooring throughout and incorporates a Shaker-style fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, white subway tiled splashbacks, wooden work surfaces – and an excellent dining area with some eye-catching bespoke builtin bench seating.

Flawlessly finished and presented, this stylish home has hardwood flooring throughout the ground floor area, while the interior is visually enhanced by a contemporary colour palette of white and pale grey that is contrasted by a rich deep blue.

Outside, the rear garden is fully enclosed and incorporates a paved patio dining/ seating area and level lawn.

There is also a small enclosed front garden.

Located within easy access to the West End of Glasgow, Anniesland offers a wide range of amenities, including road and rail links, schools, and high-end leisure/fitness facilities.

A showcase home in a prime location, Number 16 Sackville Avenue is for sale with Corum’s West End office at offers over £310,000.

PROPERTY price increases have faltered somewhat of late according to Edinburghheadquartered property firm Apropos, which says the latest ONS house price data reveals that while average house prices in England and

Wales between November and December 2020 rose by 1.5 and 2.3 per cent respectively, in Scotland average prices fell by 1.2 per cent. However, all parts of the UK reported annual house price growth since the first lockdown in March, particularly the period March through to December.

“The fall in Scottish house prices could actually be partially explained by an excess of demand. Edinburgh, for example, had 67 per cent more homes on the market in January 2021 compared to the start of 2020, so more supply means lower prices,” said David Alexander, joint chief executive officer of Apropos.

DO you know what a lodberry is? No, me neither, until a news item this week revealed one of Shetland’s most famous heritage features – the 200-year-old Copeland Lodberry in Lerwick, which appeared in the television series ‘Shetland’ – is to be renovated and transformed into a new marine training resource by local marine engineering specialist Ocean Kinetics.

primarily at ground floor level, the original part of the steading was converted to create two independent apartments in addition to the gym, sizable office, billiards/games room and home cinema, the latter newly equipped in 2019 complete with seating, lighting and sound system.

The largest apartment is accessed externally from the courtyard and includes open plan living/dining/kitchen, two double bedrooms and bathroom (now lapsed, planning permission has previously been granted to link this apartment to the main house).

The other apartment, known as The Bothy and accessed via a spiral staircase in the games room, is a one-bedroomed studio with kitchen/dining area and shower room.

The unusual design and use of stone from the original steading underpin a modern interior with particularly striking features, such as the main entrance, which opens into a split-level semi-circular hall with a central fireplace and glazed doors opening to all the ground floor reception rooms.

The bedrooms in the main house occupy wings on either side of the entrance hall, two with en suite facilities on one side, and two alongside the family bathroom on the other side, while upstairs, the galleried landing incorporates a library/seating area.

Offers over £825,000 are invited by Savills Edinburgh.
