THE VOICE OF PROPERTY
LONG awaited, potential buyers are now able to see inside the first phase of the B-listed red sandstone David Stow former teaching college at Jordanhill, now transformed by CALA Homes West to provide an exclusive collection of luxury apartments, the first of which are now available for reservation. Tipped as being CALA’s most impressive apartments to date in the West of Scotland, the David Stow Collection showcases the sympathetic restoration of the prestigious centrepiece within the Jordanhill parkland development. Exemplified by a luxurious twobedroomed show apartment, the collection will realise 64 meticulously designed one, two and three-bedroomed apartments, each of which retains key period features such as 3.8 metrehigh ceilings and crittall-style windows framing views of the surrounding parkland and the city beyond. Prices range from £315,000 to £699,995 – for more details visit cala.co.uk
WHILE some agents are seeing calmer property market activity than of late, business in the Scottish Borders is still booming – and in some cases, achieving extraordinary results. One recent example from Kelso-based Hastings Legal saw a semi-detached country cottage attract 15 viewings and 10 offers within 16 days of going on the market. At a closing date, it achieved 50 per cent over HR value from a buyer from the south of England who did not see the property in person and bought on the strength of the presentation, which included drone footage and a virtual tour on the firm’s dedicated YouTube channel. More remarkable, the missives were concluded on the same day, within hours of the offer being accepted.
MANY people, myself included, are not clued up with regards to the new standard being introduced from next February, which requires all homes in Scotland to have interlinked heat and smoke alarms. Helping to shine a light on the matter, electrical trade body SELECT has launched a new public safety campaign to raise awareness. In addition to an engaging and informative animation to clarify what householders and landlords need to do to comply with the standard, SELECT has also produced downloadable guides – visit select. org.uk for full details.
