Who Killed Billie-Jo? (C5, 9pm)

-

On February 15, 1997, Billie-Jo Jenkins was murdered in Hastings, East Sussex. The 13-year-old had been beaten to death in the back garden of the home she shared with her foster parents Sion and Lois who, coincidentally, shared the same surname. A quarter of a century on, the crime remains unsolved, despite widespread media coverage and the conviction of Sion in 1998; two subsequent retrials at the Old Bailey led to his acquittal. This documentary re-examines the heartbreaking case.

Kate Garraway’s Life Stories (STV, 9pm)

John Barnes is the new host’s second guest. He found fame in the 1980s as a footballer for Watford, Liverpool and England, and you can bet memories from that period loom large – as well as the exploits of the national team at Italia 90. But perhaps more interesting are tales from Barnes’ early years in Jamaica as well as the decision, at the tender age of 12, to move to London in the hope of making it as a footballer. Obviously it paid off, but along the way, he had bigger issues to tackle, including racism.

The Apprentice (BBC1, 9pm)

Those taking part in this year’s competition will be able to boast of their versatility, even if they’re booted out tonight. They’ve tackled a wide variety of tasks so far, and there’s another bizarre challenge heading their way – Lord Sugar wants them to run their own highland railway and zip line tours in north Wales. As ever, there are some big mistakes along the way, including costly tickets and delays – but at least such errors will give the grumpy entrepreneur something to shout about.

First Dates: Valentine’s (C4, 10pm)

We’re a few days away from Valentine’s, but romance is already in the air – you only have to take a stroll along your local high street to see the number of shops selling themed items to realise that. If such sights haven’t got you in the mood for love, the perhaps this special edition of the dating show will. Fred Sirieix and the staff hope that Cupid’s arrows hit their mark when 35-year-old Chris, who’s had a run of bad luck including redundancy, divorce and a heart attack, is paired with veterinary nurse Kaz. Also appearing are 75-year-old twins Hazel and Brenda, retired nightclub singers who are keen to find blokes capable of keeping up with them. One strikes it lucky, but the other may be disappointed.
