CULLIPOOL Village is one of two on the popular Inner Hebridean island of Luing, around 16 miles south of Oban, which can be easily reached via a regular car ferry which runs every half-hour from Cuan, off the main A816 and the ‘Bridge over the Atlantic’. Six miles long and just 1.5 miles wide, Luing is one of the Slate Islands in the Firth of Lorne, where slate continued to be extracted from quarries until 1965.

No.11 Cullipool Village is a B-listed former slate worker’s cottage in the heart of the conservation village, where it benefits from far-reaching views across the water to the island of Scarba and a sheltered position only a short walk from the beach. Extended several times by both present and previous owners, this charming cottage is currently a permanent home but is equally suited for holiday/rental use. Positively steeped in character, the ground floor accommodation comprises an entrance hall leading to a bright, triple aspect living/dining room, large modern kitchen/breakfast room, separate utility, shower room, rear hall, two double bedrooms, and second adjoining shower room. A staircase gives access to the upper floor, which houses two further double bedrooms with coombed ceilings.

Complementing the cottage is a southfacing garden, which includes a suntrap gravel seating area from which to enjoy the views. There is also a lawn bordered by mature plants and trees, a pond, parking to the front of the property, a large outhouse incorporating storage and a small sunroom. The red telephone box outside the cottage is owned by the Luing Community and currently houses a defibrillator.

One of the most accessible of the Inner Hebridean Islands, Luing has a licensed store and post office, two village halls, and a Heritage Centre with café, which is only a short walk from the cottage. The island abounds with wildlife and offers a range of outdoor pursuits including fishing, kayaking, sailing, and cycling. Offers over £300,000 are invited by Galbraith’s Stirling office.
