Ozark (Netflix, from Fri)

In January, we were treated to the first seven episodes of the crime drama’s final season. Thankfully we haven’t had long to wait for the rest. The show made its debut back in 2017, with viewers instantly hooked on the misadventures of Marty and Wendy Byrde (played, in career-best performances, by Jason Bateman and Laura Linney), a couple who begin a money-laundering enterprise after relocating to a home close to the Lake of the Ozarks reservoir in Missouri. Now the couple are returning for the remaining episodes; whether the story will be brought to a satisfying conclusion with all loose ends tied up remains to be seen, but what we do know is that Netflix is also making a 30-minute tribute to the show available called A Farewell to Ozark.

Gaslit

(StarzPlay, from Sun)

Slow Burn is a podcast, each series focusing on a different, headline-grabbing subject. The first took a deep dive into Watergate, and featured, among others, interviews with Bob Woodward, one of the journalists who broke the story. It was a huge success, both with critics and listeners, and has now been used as the basis of a new drama, which takes a look at the scandal from an unusual angle. Julia Roberts and Sean Penn are almost unrecognisable as Martha and John Mitchell, an Arkansan socialite and her husband, who was

President Richard Nixon’s loyal Attorney General. It reveals how, despite her husband’s affiliation and closeness to the then most powerful man in the world, it was Martha who first publicly raised the alarm – forcing her husband to choose between them.

Ten Percent (Amazon Prime, from Fri)

In 2015, French TV viewers were treated to the first series of the comedy-drama Dix pour cent. It was a huge success, but perhaps a

bigger surprise was that it eventually became a worldwide smash after being made available on Netflix, which renamed it

Call My Agent! Clearly somebody at Prime spotted its potential for an Englishlanguage remake, and this is the result. The brains behind it is John Morton, the Bafta-winning creator of the BBC sitcoms Twenty Twelve and its spin-off W1A, so it certainly has a great pedigree. The story has been moved from France to a London talent agency, and focuses on the life of its staff and clients. Jack Davenport, Jim Broadbent, Maggie Steed and Lydia Leonard star, while a wealth of A-listers are set to make cameo appearances.

Grace & Frankie (Netflix, from Fri)

When old friends Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin first announced they would be appearing in a comedy series together, some critics raised their eyebrows – would there really be an audience on Netflix interested in watching two seventy-somethings (as they were then) fight and bicker on screen? The answer turned out to be a resounding yes; millions across the globe have been hooked on the interactions between the title characters who were thrown together after their husbands (played by Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston) left them for each other – it is currently Netflix’s longest-running original series. Sadly, the fun is about to reach its conclusion – the forthcoming episodes will be the show’s last. Expect to be moved and amused in equal measure.
