Hot tips for fish supper lovers
THE WILD BROWNIE, THE LOCH RANNOCH HOTEL PITLOCHRY
This fishing-themed inn serves the best fish supper I’ve ever had in a hotel. A mammoth portion of batter-fried haddock came with petit pois, tartar sauce and crispy home-cooked chips. It’s set within the Loch Rannoch Hotel.

THE FISHMARKET, EDINBURGH
This seaside eating house serves great fish and chips to take away, oysters at your table ... or lets you sit on their deck with langoustines and a local beer watching the sun set over the harbour. The breaded sole goujons are out of this world. @thefishmarketnewhaven
CROMARS, ST ANDREWS
Cromars, which opened in St Andrews in 2013, takes pride in producing the best fish and chips in Scotland, and their customers voted them the best in 2016 and 2018. The fish is handpicked in Peterhead, they serve home-cut chips from Ivan Wood and Sons in Ballingry, and their tartar sauce is homemade to a secret recipe.

CRABSHAKK BOTANICS, GLASGOW
Crabshakk’s newest location at Glasgow Botanics is, in my opinion, one of the coolest restaurants in Glasgow right now. The food menu is almost as extensive as the wine list, with snacks, specials, and seafood listed in sections such as oysters, squid, scallops, and langoustines.

OBAN FISH AND CHIP SHOP, OBAN
This take-away and restaurant is popular with locals and tourists alike. In 2002, fish connoisseur and chef Rick Stein declared its fare to be the best fish and chips he’d ever tasted. Specials such as salt and pepper squid are available.
