It’s Showtime! (STV, 9pm)

In May 2022, the racehorse Showtime Mahomes defeated a group of highly regarded favourites to win at York. It was an unexpected victory, the latest chapter in the steed’s remarkable life. Now we’re getting to know more about him courtesy of this documentary, which introduces viewers to his owners, a syndicate of working class men from Darlington who clubbed together to buy Showtime on a whim after enjoying a few beers one evening. But can the equine hero continue winning?

With traditional gender roles supposedly a thing of the past, the ex-EastEnder wants to know what it means to be a man in the 21st century – and no doubt he’ll be bringing his trademark charisma to the situation, which makes the two-part programme a must-see. Race Across the World (BBC1, 9pm)

The race continues in this consistently entertaining reality show as the teams head to Lombok – and less than five hours separate the pairs. After leaving Nara City, they must cross their first border into South Korea to reach the second checkpoint in the seaside town of Sokcho. It’s a leg of two halves, the first of which takes them through budget-busting Japan and presents them with a dilemma about whether to go for speed or take the opportunity to earn some cash for the rest of their journey. Then the second half will take them across the length of South Korea, as they get a chance to look beyond the Kimchi and K-pop and learn more about the country. Will the gap between them widen, and is anyone starting to regret their choice of travel companion?

Professor T (STV, 9pm)

The good news for the Professor (Ben Miller) is that he’s now out of prison, but just how easy will it be for him to go back to his normal life? He’s certainly keen to return to his work at the university – and with the police. At least the cops seem keen to have him back in the fold as they turn to him for help with investigating a series of unexplained deaths. Can he work out what is going before anyone else dies? And will the university also be prepared to welcome him with open arms?

Stacey Solomon’s Renovation Rescue (C4, 9pm)

Stacey is in Devon to meet Jo and Darryl whose seaside dream home has turned out to a nightmare – they spent £127,000 on building work which was subsequently condemned by inspectors, forcing them to start again. Now, three years into the project, they have just £30,000 left to finally realise their vision, and Stacey is here to show them how to make their cash stretch further by doing some of the work themselves. She also continues with her own project, which
